I’ve just stumbled across a list of 50 life goals I made for myself back in 2019. 2019 was not a good year for me.
I was working in finance in a job where I felt very isolated. I had a long commute to the office each day. I only stayed at the job because they were sponsoring me to get my UK visa which would lead to citizenship. I felt trapped.
I’d bought my London flat the year before and instead of feeling like a life achievement it made me feel broke and stuck. Now I was responsible for maintaining this thing, my cash reserves were depleted - it made me feel more trapped!
So, I wrote a list of 50 life goals. Some were small and some seemed unobtainable.
Going through them it’s crazy to see how many of them I’ve ticked off!
10. Sell travel successfully
11. House professionally cleaned weekly
12. Travel place to place with horses
14. To have balance in life and work
15. Ride horses regularly
25. Horse safari in the stans / Mongolia / Bhutan
26. Horse safari in Africa
27. Horse safari in France Loire Valley
36. Invest regularly in vanguard all stocks
37. Travel to New Zealand every xmas
39. Develop writing skills
40. Reach 1m on dreamyponies
41. Achieve financial freedom
48. Develop equestrian photography skills
Most of the goals that are still on there are around moving to the countryside and getting my own horses:
7. Obtain UK citizenship
20. Complete a german for business course
30. Move to the countryside
31. Get a black and blue roan spaniel
32. Go hiking in the mountains in Switzerland
34. Get a Landrover Defender
35. Buy a horse
43. Own a mini horse
44. Shout my friends an all expenses trip to Italy
46. Pay someone that works for me a life changing amount
47. Get my book distributed in a nationwide bookstore
The goals have changed a bit. I now want a Land Cruiser instead of a Defender and a Kygyz Taigan instead of a spaniel. Maybe I’ll get both. I want to focus on film more, off-horse travel, and building a home in the countryside.
If you’re feeling like you’re in a rut, try working on your own list of 50 life goals, big and small. There is so much satisfaction in the reflection!
